What you Need to Know when You Have Gout?
Friday, October 9th, 2009Gout can be a great inconvenience in life. How earth shattering is knowing you have one?
So, what do you need to understand when you have Gout yourself? Here are some gout information for one to understand.
Although the goal is to prevent Gout in our lives, it pays to understand and thoroughly know how to instantly manage the attacks if they happen. The gout pain is swift and can be very excruciating and this needs immediate attention as well.
This is what happened to my father as mentioned in the previous posts. I remembered that he had all the typical symptoms of gout and the saddest thing is waking up in the middle of the night upon hearing him weeping from the pain. His toe is two to three times bigger than its normal size. It is always swelling red and even hot to touch. Even if he don’t tell us, we know how incredibly painful the experience is.
In fact, we know that even the weight of the bed linen is just too much for him to bear. I have to carefully peel back the bed covers and the pillows so that the toe was clear of the bedding and other stuff. This is the same routine with his gout attacks, the pretty sleepless nights of his past.
The sad news is that Gout does not just affect the foot and toes. The other common parts of the body where Gout can occur are the ankles, wrists, and the knees. Any joint in the body can be pretty much affected by gout.
Indeed, if gout is left untreated, the gout symptoms can strike more than one area of the body at a time! And this time, even more painful for a gout attack.
